After her mother's death, Edward C. Parkinson (her brother-in-law) was appointed as her guardian. He applied for a pension on her behalf as an orphan of a Civil War soldier. She recieved a pension of $8/month, commencing 3 Jun 1867, and ending on 26 Aug 1875, certificate dated 29 Nov 1873. [133]

In the 1870 federal census she is living with the family of her sister Serena Parkinson. [53] She moved with them to Seward Co., NE, where she was lsited with them in the 1880 census, where her occupation was given as music teacher. [208]

She removed to Galesburg, IL to live with her married sister Ida Packard. [1]
