552. Elvira E. BASSFORD (Aaron6, John5, Joseph BASFORD4, Joseph3, James2, Jacob1). Born abt 1841 in Constable, NY. [252], [228] age 9 in the 1859 census, age 24 in 1865. Elvira E. died in Nov 1921. [17] Buried in Constable Cemetery, Constable, NY. [17] aka: Alvira.
She is probably the Alvira Bassford, age 18, listed as a servant for the Bently Turner family in the 1860 census of Malone, NY. She is also listed with her parents, so she may have moved between the time that the census was taken in the different families? [370]
[17], [370], [252], [228]
She married George W. GIBSON on 9 Dec 1865 in St. Albans, VT. [228] Methodist Church. Born ? . George W. died ? .

I am assuming that the daughter Helen who married Harvey Learned is the same daughter as the Ellen, age 7, listed in the 1850 census. [252]
[17], [252]

He served as a Private in the Civil War in the 14th Artillery, enlisting 28 Dec 1863 in Malone, NY. He would only have been about 12 years at the time. [17]
He might be the Henry Bassford, age 18, living with the family of William and Elizabeth (Bassford) Hooker in the 1870 census. [463] (Elizabeth would be his father’s first cousin.)
