Died while serving in the military in the Phillipines. [1251]
[1251] indicates that a San Francisco death record gives death as 16 Sep 1901. However a 29 Dec 1900 newspaper article implies that he had recently died at that time: “The Body of Theodore B. Basford, son of the P.D. Basfords of Beloit, who died while serving with the military in the Philippines, will be shipped home for burial; Basford, a private, had been sent to Beloit.” [1445]
He is listed in the 1886 city directory for Watertown, WI. He is listed as a machinist. [1021]

He first married Loretta DRAPER (?), daughter of Daniel DRAPER & Nellie (DRAPER), abt 1894. [667] married 6 years in 1900 census. Born in Aug 1877 in Wisconsin. [667] Loretta died ? . aka: or Wise? [2] They were divorced bef 1920. [1034]
[2] gave her maiden name as Wise. However, the 1910 census shows her daughter Mildred living with grandparents Daniel and Nellie Draper. [668] The birthplaces of Daniel and Nellie (New York and Canada) are consistent with those given for Loretta’s parents in the 1900 census which would appear to confirm that this is the correct family.

The death record for Byron’s son John gives the name of his mother as Nina J. Bull. [967] Presumably Nina would be the mother of at least John and Marion since they are close to the same age. The younger children were probably the children of a second wife Rosa, although that is not certain.
He was living with his parents at the time of the 1910 census, where he is listed as a widower. [668] However, I suspect that he was actually divorced/separated rather than widowed since his son Byron is listed with his mother Rosa W. Basford in the 1920 census for Beloit, WI. [667] (Unless perhaps Rosa was not Byron’s biological mother or Byron the younger was not the son of Byron? His uncle Elbert married a woman Rosa about of about the same age as Byron’s mother Rosa in the 1920 census.)
He second married Rosa W. (BASFORD) ? . Born abt 1876 in Wisconsin. [1034], [1446] age 44 in 1920 census, age 54 in 1930 census. Rosa W. died ? .
