Russian River Flag 28 Jun 1883 [1558] Married BASFORD?BERTRON?In Healdsburg, June 24, 1883, by Eld. A. G. Burnett, at the Christian Church, Miss Ida Basford, step-daughter of John N. Ferguson, to Albert Bertron, both of Alexander Valley. We dropped in at the church to see the ceremony performed. The regular morning exercises being finished the beautiful commemorative service of the Lord’s Supper was being administered to the large membership present. This concluded, the choir sang "Waiting, Waiting;" they were not detained long. Very soon the happy couple entered, and preceded by relatives, passed down the aisle to the altar, and were married, Eld. Burnett pledging the groom to "love and protect" and the bride to "love and cherish," etc. The newly married then passed out, no doubt appreciating that they had been through quite an ordeal, but quite contented with the results. Both have the good wishes of a host of friends. The auditorium of the Christian Church is one of the largest and best seated of our churches. The walls, ceiling and paint-work are very neat-looking with fresh whitening and paint; the altar is very pretty, and on this occasion was thickly cover with vases of the loveliest flowers that grow.
