In the 1870 census of Averill, Jefferson Co., WV, he was listed as a farm laborer, age 23, b. WV. He was living with the family of J___ A___. [12]

7. Edward Carr BASSFORD (Zebede1). Born on 23 Sep 1854 in Virginia. [2] Edward Carr died in Caspar, WY, on 14 May 1946. [2], [13] age 91 years 7 months 21 days. Buried in Highland Cemetery. GR12 B28. Occupation: Blacksmith. [2]

In the 1870 census for Arden Twp., Berkeley Co., WV, he was living with the family of Henry J. Seibert. His age was given as 16, and his occupation as farm laborer. [12]

He moved with his family to Iowa when he was 21, where he settled on a farm near Sioux City. Edward was married there, and he and his wife came to Wyoming in 1894. [13]

In the 1920 census, he was living with his son-in-law Ira Plummer in Casper, Natrona Co., WY. His age was given as 66 years, and his birthplace was given as Virginia. The birthplaces of his parents were given as England. [20]

He is listed in the 1922 city directory for Casper, WY. [21]

He died at Natrona Memorial Hospital where he had spent the last five months of his life. His death record indicates that he had been living in Caspar, WY for 30 years. His address was given as 123 North Ash St. [2], [13]

He married Mary Leah KNAPP, daughter of T.(?) D. KNAPP (? -? ) & Sarah E. HUSTON (?) (abt Apr 1831-9 Feb 1900), on 16 May 1881 in Woodbury, IA. [23] Born on 7 Aug 1858 in Pennsylvania. [23], [25] Mary Leah died in Sheriden Co., WY, on 26 Jan 1911. [26], [25] age 52 years 5 months 18 days. Buried in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sheriden Co., WY. [23], [24] aka: Mary E. [16]

One of his daughter married a Mr. C. W. Thomsen, and was living in Vallejo, CA at the time of Edward's death in 1946. [13] This might have been Myrtle. If not, then it would have to be a second marriage for Lulu since she is the onl other daughter not accounted for in Edward's obituary.
